Setting a new milestone in the armored patrol vehicle category, Mercedes Benz recently unveiled its updated G-Wagon LAPV 6.X at the EUROSATORY 2010 event in Paris.
The off roader can carry larger and heavier payload while at the same time offering better protection and agility. Powered by a high torque rail diesel engine, the vehicle is capable of providing a top speed of 150km/h while being able to transport 1.3 tonnes of cargo with its impressive payload. The trucks’ impressive armor plate design lets repair teams quickly remove and replace damaged pieces, which is extremely useful in the eventuality of for example a land mine blast, when the armor plate can be added at the LAPV’s floor.
According to the manufacturer, the monocoque full steel body provides ballistic protection and sits upon a compact 2850mm wheelbase. Other impressive features include variable air shock absorbers and hydraulic brakes to make rough terrain easier to navigate.
In cooperation with EADS, the G-Wagon LAPV 6.X has been provided with a host of high performance innovative features such as command center capabilities with a data recorder, communications system, and jamming system.
